We arrived yesterday afternoon and the trip from Barcelona was smooth sailing.
It felt like Italy immediately. Nobody getting in line.........going right to the front even if you got there last, turning one lane on the road into two, and parking wherever you want. We love it (unless someone cuts us in line).
Awesome hotel in an old building. I will post some pics.....everything is white.
Yesterday we walked all around the historic center where we are staying. Had a nice dinner but sat next to a table full is Swedish businessmen who were here for a conference. They had obviously been drinking before they got there and continued to do so at the restaurant. Then the speeches (loud ones) started.
Mark kept saying the old Sesame Street Swedish Baker line "hurdy gurdy hurdy gurdy" and making me laugh. One poor guy came back from the bathroom and apparently never got around to unzipping his pants when he was there if you know what I mean.
Today we toured with a couple from Argentina and a young man from Australia and explored Erice, the salt flats of Trapani, and Segesta. Our tour guide was a darling young lady who lives in Palermo. Mark wants to set her up with Ryan ......did I just write that?
These places are located in north west Sicily.
Oh, and we had an amazing lunch with wine and olive oil tasting at a farmhouse in the countryside.
Did not take the time to do pics in chronological order. They are a mess!
WOWZA.Sounds like a fabulous time. That's hysterical about the Gurky Durky ...I am glad the businessmen didn't spoil your meal.
ReplyDeleteAwesome panoramic of the ampitheatre - castles also. Looked like GREAT (mushroom?) pizzas!
ReplyDeleteEggplant on the pizza!
DeleteOh please set her up with Ryan. I'd definitely be up for that cousin trip.
